Gutter

Factors That Affect the Cost of New Gutters

Gutters are one of the most essential components of your home. They protect your roof, siding, foundation and other parts of your property by diverting water runoff away from your home — which then prevents moisture damage. It’s crucial to have a properly functioning gutter system. That’s why you should plan gutter replacement if your gutters are no longer in good shape.

In this post, Homecraft® Inc. lists some of the things that can influence the cost of your gutter installation.

Material

When it comes to gutter material, you can choose from several options and have a good chance of installing the most suitable one for your home. The type of gutter you choose can have an impact on the overall cost of your gutter installation. If you want a more affordable option, you can opt for vinyl or aluminum. If you want a more durable or premium-looking gutter system, copper or zinc would require you to pay a little more.

Labor

The cost of your gutter installation will also be influenced by the amount of labor involved, which is often based on the material you select. Some gutter types require more specialized skills and time to install than others. That said, contractors may not charge as much for labor if you choose materials like aluminum and vinyl because they’re lightweight, easy to install and don’t require special equipment. However, if you choose copper, zinc or steel gutters, you can expect to pay more because these materials require special equipment to install.

Downspouts

Once your gutters are attached to your roof, you’ll need to have downspouts installed as well. Typically, downspouts are made of the same material as your gutters, but you can choose to combine different materials based on your local climate or other considerations.
