Higher Demand for Windows in West Chester, PA Seen as Demand for Homes Increases

The demand for doors and windows goes hand-in-hand with the demand for new housing. If builders are having a hard time keeping up with the renewed demand for new homes, as Bloomberg’s Shobhana Chandra reports, window and door manufacturers have their work cut out for them. The housing industry wants nothing short of quality doors and windows for West Chester, PA homes and in other areas; after all, as experts see it, the market’s close to returning to pre-recession levels.

Despite the struggle, builders see this as a good thing because it will keep them busy for a long period and earn a fortune. Before the big slump, single-family homes that were yet to be built comprised 47 percent of the housing market. When 2006 came around, however, demand took a nosedive until late 2008, where these homes only comprised 14 percent. Now, the market is growing ever closer to regaining stability prior to the slump with 36 percent.

The window and door market is quite optimistic about demand in the next several years. In a report by Cleveland-based research firm The Freedonia Group, global demand for doors and windows until 2017 is expected to increase by 7.1 percent every year. The resurgence of construction activity will be the primary fuel for the surge in demand. In addition, other countries like China are making the market larger, even more than that of the U.S.

As real estate market values rise as a result of a stabilizing economy, people have learned to take this opportunity to raise the value of their homes even further. Changing old windows to brand new (not to mention more energy-efficient) windows in Newark, DE adds dollars to the overall property value. Not only do they keep the home cozy but they also attract would-be buyers in case the owner decides to sell them.

Experts estimate that replacing old windows with new ones can add thousands of dollars to a house’s price tag, excluding labor and materials. If your home is worth $100,000, for example, new windows from companies like Homecraft Inc. can add around 7 to 8 percent. Of course, the value depends on a lot of factors, such as the number of windows to be replaced and the type of window to be installed. After all, nobody likes a window that has already seen better days.

As home building picks up, so will production of various elements like doors and windows. New doors and windows are essential for homes to be occupied by a revitalized consumer base, now more confident about putting their money on real estate. Market experts also believe that new homes are the trend due to the depleting inventory of existing ones.
