5 Qualities of Your Ideal Roofing Company

A roofing project’s success largely depends on the right contractor. Knowing a few things about what qualities ideal roofers should have can help you find the right one.

Here is our list of qualities you should look for in a roofing contractor.

  1. Proper Licenses – One of the first things you should ask about is whether or not the roofing contractor has the proper licenses issued by the state, city or county they’re operating in. And if the license information is provided, it should be verifiable with a phone call. Licenses do not just indicate a roofer’s legitimacy; it is also your assurance that all installations will comply with building codes. It should be noted that a contractor’s license is different from a business license.

  2. Insurance Coverage – Insurance coverage in the building and remodeling industry should include liability insurance coverage, as well as workers’ compensation, which covers accidental property damage and injuries, respectively. Hiring a roofer without insurance is very risky, but fortunately, Homecraft® Inc. is properly licensed and insured.

  3. Physical Location – Hiring a roofing contractor with a brick-and-mortar location is certainly beneficial, especially when you need roofing assistance on short notice. You’re also less likely to hire what is known as a “storm chaser” – roofing “contractors” who follow the aftermath of storms, perform cheap but camouflaged subpar work, then move on by the time you find out the truth. Homecraft® Inc. has been in business since 1981, and we have offices in Wilmington, DE and Garnet Valley, PA.

  4. Written Quote – A reputable contractor will have no problem providing a written quote that clearly indicates the project details, materials and total cost. Contractors who quote their prices verbally aren’t likely to give you the same price when it’s time to settle the bill. Homecraft Inc. will always provide a written quote, and we stand by the quoted cost. Also, we never pressure our potential clients to sign anything.

  5. Easy to Reach – With today’s communication technologies, there really is no excuse not to respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner. If a contractor doesn’t answer their calls, or takes more than two business days to respond to your message, they’ll likely pay the same amount of care and attention to you if you hire them.
